Study Coordination

The CHB Clinical Research Coordination System (CRCS) provides a variety of functional services that facilitate the day-to-day operations of clinical trial or research study. Primarily, the system provides a central database were study coordinators may register prospective participants, enroll consented patients, and manage study calendars, tasks and contacts. The CRCS ensures that sensitive operational data are stored securely, but offers a flexible and accessible interface to enable successful completion of study objectives.

The CRCS also serves as a central data exchange hub for the CHB electronic research platform. The CRCS may be employed to automate data transfers between the CHB Clinical Data Warehouse and research electronic data capture (EDC) systems. Additional functions such as Web-based screening and enrollment capabilities, campaign intelligence and patient communications are available.

The system was developed and is maintained by the CHB Clinical Research Information Technology department. The component architecture is comprised of Microsoft Web and Oracle database technologies, and the system embraces open industry standards for data exchange including CDISC ODM (CDASH), XML Web and Restful Services.
