The Adult Infectious Diseases group consists of six board-certified physicians who have expertise in diagnosing and treating all types of infectious diseases.

We diagnose and treat children for a wide range of developmental concerns including all types of developmental delays, attention and hyperactivity disorders, learning problems and behavioral issues. Our Developmental Pediatric physicians are certified in diagnosing and overseeing treatment for children who need physical rehabilitation services, such as physical or occupational therapy. Because children’s rehabilitation needs can be very different from those of adults, it’s important to have these services provided under the direction of a pediatric clinician.

Our General Pediatric physicians have been living and working in the community for years. We pride ourselves on developing personal, trusting relationships with the children and families we care for — many of our families stay with us for several generations.

Our clinicians and staff are always available to answer questions or provide extra support when your child is injured or sick. We also provide routine preventive care to keep your child healthy.

Physicians at the Division of Newborn Medicine are focused on finding ways to improve care for newborns through clinical research and innovative techniques. We are dedicated to delivering the highest-quality patient care and research to our patients and the greater community.

We are especially interested in improving care for premature infants — including those born as early as 23 weeks gestation. Our research projects at the Regional Neonatal Center give these tiny patients and their families an opportunity to receive new treatments not available at community hospitals, or even at other major medical centers. We run a network of neonatal intensive care programs at 11 hospitals and coordinate the largest High Risk Neonatal Follow-up Program in New York State.

Through our formal collaboration with the Lower Hudson and Mid-Hudson Valley Perinatal Networks, to improve access to care we have treated for more than 20,000 sick or premature newborns since 1985.

Our Neonatal Follow-Up Program provides follow-up assessment for babies who may be at risk for developmental, speech or growth delays. These include babies born prematurely, those cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), those with heart disease or respiratory or neurological problems, and those exposed to drugs or alcohol.

Through our program, we monitor the development of these at-risk babies to make sure any problems are diagnosed and treated early. We also help parents coordinate any additional services their baby may need and provide a copy of our evaluation to the baby’s pediatrician.

We provide world-class cardiovascular care to children of all ages in the Hudson Valley and western Fairfield county. We use our expertise, developed from over 30 years of experience, to find the best solution for each patient’s unique circumstances.

Our Pediatric Cardiology team has pioneered the use of treatments for a wide range of children’s cardiovascular problems in the Hudson Valley. We continue to develop new strategies to diagnose and treat cardiac conditions in children of all ages – from the prenatal period through young adulthood.

We provide 24-hour care that includes inpatient and outpatient services for comprehensive, seamless continuity of care.

Because our team is dedicated to teaching, research and patient care, you can feel confident your child is receiving the best care with the most up-to-date treatments. We are the only designated New York State Newborn Screening Referral Center between NYC and Albany.

Pediatric Gastroenterology is dedicated to diagnosing and treating children of all ages for a wide variety of problems with the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, liver and biliary system. We also diagnose and treat nutritional disorders.

We at the Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation group provide cutting-edge comprehensive hematology, oncology and stem cell transplantation care for children, adolescents and young adults. We offer same-day consultations, and strive to make any necessary accommodations for all of our patients.

Our team of eight pediatric hematologists and oncologists work closely with our dedicated team of pediatric nurse practitioners, social workers and scientists to deliver state-of-the-art, compassionate care for our patients.

Childhood infections are one of the most common reasons children see a healthcare provider. While the majority of infections are not serious and children recovery quickly, sometimes children do need to see a specialist for recurrent, prolonged or severe infections. Our Pediatric Infectious Disease specialists are experienced in diagnosing and treating children with infections of all kinds. We commonly see children on an outpatient basis for recurrent or prolonged infections, persistent fevers, Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases, enlarged lymph nodes, pneumonia and a wide range of other infections.

Our physicians also have expertise diagnosing and treating infections in returning travelers, infants with congenital infections (infected before birth) and in children with weakened immune systems. Children who have severe infections, such as meningitis, encephalitis, bone infections or endocarditis are usually seen in the hospital.

We provide state-of-the art, family-centered care to infants, children, teenagers and young adults who have kidney disease or high blood pressure. We strive to treat the entire child, and not just his or her illness, by providing support for each child’s emotional, social and educational goals. Pediatric Nephrology works together with families to transition our patients into healthy and well-adjusted adults. And we make sure to engage in education and cutting edge research to advance the care and understanding of those with kidney disease.

Our pediatric neurology team treats infants, children and adolescents with neurological problems that include epilepsy, seizures, concussions, headaches, Bell’s palsy, movement disorders, muscular dystrophy, craniosynostosis, plagiocephaly, cerebral palsy, sleep disorders, or other problems of the brain, nerves and muscles. In addition, our epilepsy program treats tuberous sclerosis, infantile spasms, Dravet’s syndrome, Lennox- Gastaut syndrome, Rett syndrome and the entire spectrum of childhood epilepsies. The combined use of sophisticated non-invasive testing, in addition to close cooperation with pediatric neurosurgeons and other specialists, enables patients to receive a coordinated approach to all types of neurologic problems. The epilepsy providers participate in clinical trials, multicenter and NIH research. They provide management of the ketogenic diet and treat with epilepsy surgery, including laser ablation, responsive neurostimulation and vagal nerve stimulation. Some of the providers also treat developmental, learning, attention or hyperactivity disorders.

Our Pediatric Pulmonologists, Allergists, Immunologists, and Sleep Medicine specialists diagnose and care for more than 12,000 children each year with a wide variety of respiratory problems, including allergies, asthma, sleep problems and complex pulmonary disorders. The Department of Pediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology provides psychological services to children and their parents while a child is in the hospital. The request for our services can be made by the doctor or the family.

We see children and adolescents who are anxious, depressed or overwhelmed by a hospitalization or diagnosis. We also provide ongoing services and support to children with chronic illnesses who are hospitalized often over time. We also see children for behavioral difficulties, eating disorders or noncompliance issues.

Our services include crisis intervention, short-term psychotherapy (cognitive/behavioral, dynamic or supportive), relaxation techniques and hypnosis. We also work with pain management services at the hospital and offer follow-up services after discharge from the hospital.
