BCHP Specialties

Adolescent Medicine

Adolescent Medicine provides excellent health care to adolescents and young adults ages 11 to 24. We’re particularly sensitive to the needs and concerns of adolescents and are uniquely experienced in providing care to this age group. We’re experts at the medical management of eating disorders and provide complete gynecology services, including pelvic examinations, Pap tests, pregnancy tests, sexually transmitted disease testing, and contraceptive services, including emergency contraception.

We also work closely with an experienced team of pediatric specialists, including psychologists, psychiatrists, nutritionists, and physical and occupational therapists to provide a full range of health care services for our patients.

Dermatology

It is our great pleasure to announce that BCHP will be opening a Division of Pediatric Dermatology and we are extremely excited to bring this subspecialty service to our patients and referring physicians. The division will be led by Nanette Silverberg, M.D. who has been a practicing pediatric dermatologist for over 20 years.

Developmental Pediatrics

At Developmental Pediatrics, we diagnose and treat children for a wide range of developmental concerns including all types of developmental delays, attention and hyperactivity disorders, learning problems and behavioral issues.

Our physicians are also certified in diagnosing and overseeing treatment for children who need physical rehabilitation services, such as physical or occupational therapy. Because children’s rehabilitation needs can be very different from those of adults, it’s important to have these services provided under the direction of a pediatric clinician.

General Pediatrics

General Pediatric is comprised of New York Medical College faculty who are experts in the health supervision of children from newborn to 21 years of age. The group of 15 board certified physicians are available for urgent care visits as well as periodic health supervision visits as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. We are experienced in the care of healthy newborns, toddlers, school aged children and young adults. In addition, we provide comprehensive office-based care to children with special health care needs and their complex medical conditions.

Neonatology

The excitement of newborn medicine lies first in the rapid evolution of new technologies, cutting edge developments in clinical and basic science, and bench-to-bedside correlates of human biology that are matched only by the avalanche of new discoveries that change today’s management of old diseases. Each of these features contributes to the overall intensity of neonatology and its ability to re-invent itself nearly every 5 years.

Neonatal Follow Up Program

We follow babies who may be at risk for developmental, speech and/or growth delays. These babies include, but are not limited to, those born prematurely, those with heart disease, respiratory or neurological problems and those exposed to drugs or alcohol.

Pediatric Infectious Diseases

Childhood infections are one of the most common reasons for a parent to bring a child to see a healthcare provider. While the majority of infections are benign and recovery is quick, situations do arise when consultation with a specialist is needed for evaluation of children with recurrent, prolonged, or severe infections. The pediatric specialists in the Infectious Disease and Immunology section assist in the diagnosis and management of children with a variety of known or suspected infections as well as immune deficiencies.
