About the BCHP Cystic Fibrosis Center

BCHP's Cystic Fibrosis team is dedicated to providing exceptional care and support for children, adolescents, and young adults dealing with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Our team of experts is committed to delivering cutting-edge treatments, personalized care plans, and unwavering support to improve the quality of life for our patients and their families.

We are proud to be the only accredited Cystic Fibrosis Center in the Hudson Valley.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF)

Being accredited by the CFF means that the BCHP CF Center has undergone a rigorous evaluation process to ensure that it meets the highest standards of care and follows established guidelines for CF management. This evaluation is performed by the CFF's Accreditation Review Committee, which assesses various aspects of the center's care and services.

The accreditation process typically includes the following key components:

  • Clinical Care Standards: The center is evaluated on its ability to deliver evidence-based and up-to-date clinical care for CF patients. This includes assessment of treatment protocols, infection control measures, nutrition management, respiratory care, and other essential aspects of CF care.
  • Multidisciplinary Team: The center is assessed on its ability to provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary care team consisting of specialized healthcare professionals who work together to address all aspects of CF management.
  • Quality Improvement: The center must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and the overall care experience.
  • Patient Registry: The center is required to contribute data to the CFF Patient Registry, which is a comprehensive database that tracks and analyzes CF patient information to advance research and improve care.
  • Patient and Family Education: Accredited centers are expected to provide educational resources and support for CF patients and their families to empower them in managing the condition effectively.
  • Research and Clinical Trials: Centers accredited by the CFF are often actively involved in CF-related research and clinical trials, contributing to the advancement of CF knowledge and treatment options.

Accreditation by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a prestigious acknowledgment of a healthcare center's commitment to delivering the highest standard of care for individuals with CF. For patients and their families, choosing an accredited center provides assurance that they will receive top-quality care and access to the most current and effective treatments available. It also signifies the center's dedication to ongoing improvement and collaboration with the broader CF community to improve the lives of those living with this complex genetic condition.
