ANESTHESIOLOGY FELLOWSHIPS

The Boston Children’s Hospital Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine is committed to providing high quality medical education for pediatric providers and specialists throughout the world. In that spirit, the department provides the following fellowship and residency training opportunities.

We welcome you to the 2025-2026 Fellowship Application Season!  Please browse our available subspecialty training options and note the application information that follows.  Our available fellowships include both ACGME and non-ACGME accredited programs, primarily one-year in length that may be coupled together to form a two-year fellowship. All our fellowships provide well-balanced years emphasizing clinical care as well as many opportunities for didactic instruction and research. PEDIATRIC ANESTHESIOLOGY FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION

*PLEASE NOTE: Beginning in the 2025-2026 application cycle, Pediatric Anesthesiology will no longer be accepting applications through ERAS. All application must be submitted through the SF Match CAS System*

Application Period: We will be participating in the SF Match utilizing Central Application Service (CAS). Please visit their website for instructions on registering and submission of application materials.

International Candidates: Must pass USMLE Step 1 before applying to Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship; Obtaining ECFMG certification advance of applying is strongly preferred. 

PEDIATRIC ANESTHESIOLOGY TWO-YEAR FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION

We offer two-year pediatric anesthesiology fellowships for candidates interested in completing our one-year core pediatric anesthesiology fellowship followed immediately by training in one of our pediatric anesthesiology sub-specialty programs: Cardiac Anesthesia, Regional Anesthesia or Pain Medicine.

Concurrent with the CAS Application, an interested applicant should submit the following additional advanced fellowship application materials. The documents must be emailed separately to anesfellowship@childrens.harvard.edu.

  1. Letter of Recommendation addressed to the sub-specialty Fellowship Program Director
  2. Statement of Interest (targeted to sub-specialty interest)

ONE-YEAR ADVANCED FELLOWSHIP (PEDIATRIC CARDIAC ANESTHESIA OR PEDIATRIC REGIONAL ANESTHESIA) APPLICATION MATERIALS

AFFILIATING RESIDENCY ROTATION IN PEDIATRIC ANESTHESIA

Boston Children’s Hospital offers both a core and advanced pediatric anesthesiology residency rotation.  Residents from Harvard-affiliated institutions (Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center), local hospitals (Boston University Medical Center, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital) and occasionally hospitals outside of the Boston area spend between 1-3 months at a time.
