The Piao laboratory studies adhesion G-protein coupled receptors (aGPCRs) in neurodevelopment and associated neurological disorders. Our research projects are aimed at characterizing the relationship and communication between cells and their extracellular matrix in both normal and pathological brain development. Using a combination of techniques, including mouse genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, proteomics, imaging, and ex vivo/in vivo electroporation, we are investigating in particular the signaling mechanisms employed by a specific member of the G-protein coupled receptor family, GPR56, which has been implicated in several key pathways in neural development.
Opportunities
Currently we are seeking motivated postdocs and graduate students. Please contact Dr. Xianhua Piao for details.
