Current Environment:

The Department of Surgery at Boston Children's Hospital is at the forefront of patient care, clinical innovation, and research. Caring for an average of 7,000 outpatient visitors annually and performing more than 4,000 operative procedures each year, Boston Children's is one of the largest pediatric surgery programs in the world.

Currently, there are 22 board-certified pediatric surgeons in the department.

The Department of Surgery is committed to advancing the understanding and practice of pediatric surgery through research. We are one of the largest research departments at Boston Children’s. We are host to world-renowned laboratories involved in angiogenesis research and tissue engineering. Our extensive research initiatives are both laboratory- and clinic-based, providing research training opportunities to a large number of students and fellows.
