Kelsey Miller

Dr. Kelsey Miller’s work focuses on pediatric emergency medicine and medical education including undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education and interprofessional education. All these academic interests arise from her clinical work as a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Boston Children’s Hospital. She has published research on pediatric airway management and pediatric sedation and serves as member of the NEAR4PEM Executive Committee, leading efforts to improve and study pediatric airway management in emergency departments across the United States.

Dr. Miller has a strong track record of medical education leadership and scholarship in both undergraduate and graduate medical education. She completed her Master’s in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2020. Locally, she is the creator and co-director the Leadership Curriculum for the Boston Combined Residency Program and is a member of the leadership team for the Interprofessional Education Theme at Harvard Medical School. Nationally, she is involved in the Academic Pediatric Association’s Medical Education Journal Club and Digital Scholarship Working Group and is chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Emergency Medicine’s Mentoring Subcommittee. She has published on procedural teaching, supervision and interprofessional education.

Personally, Dr. Miller is the mother of two young boys, both of whom she gave birth to while completing her graduate medical education. She is part of a dual physician family, and her husband is also a pediatric emergency medicine physician. This has inspired her interest in career advancement and support for women in medicine. As a Chief Resident, she created a formal family leave policy for the Boston Combined Research Program and is now conducting research on leave policies for female faculty pediatric physicians
