Hla Laboratory Research | Overview

The Hla Laboratory is dedicated to the discovery of fundamental knowledge in the vascular system and lipid mediators.

We are investigating the biology of the lipid mediator sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). We are focused on the role of S1P signaling in embryonic development, normal physiology and disease processes relevant to cancer, vascular and immune systems.

Our work has contributed to the development of new medicines (COX-2 inhibitors and S1P receptor blockers). We apply our knowledge base to develop novel therapeutic strategies for cancer, inflammatory and vascular diseases.
