The Division of Newborn Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital is the academic and administrative center of the Harvard Program in Neonatology, a world-class neonatal research and clinical training program that operates within two Harvard Longwood Medical Area hospitals, Boston Children's and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and also in close collaboration with Brigham and Women's Hospital. The Program is directed by the Chief of the Division of Newborn Medicine who, as the Academic Chair of the Program, is responsible for the oversight and implementation of its mission:
- To provide world-class clinical care to neonates through the development of cutting edge neonatal research programs in basic developmental biology, translational research, and clinical investigation; and to contribute to the greater good through scientific discovery.
- To support the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Training Program, one of the largest, most prestigious training programs in the nation, through the collaboration of its member hospitals.
- To continue training the next generation of academic Neonatologists and future leaders in the field of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
