Fibromyalgia Integrative Training program for Teens (FIT Teens)

What is the goal of the study? This is a clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of a specialized neuromuscular exercise training in combination with cognitive behavioral therapy for the treatment of fibromyalgia and widespread musculoskeletal pain.

How do you participate? Patients are enrolled in groups of 3 or 4. Each group is assigned randomly to one of 3 different treatments. Groups meet for 1.5 hours, twice a week for 8 weeks. There are a couple of follow-up visits as well. Sessions are led (depending on the treatment group) by a psychologist and/or a physical therapist/exercise physiologist. The sessions take place in Waltham, MA and there is a small travel reimbursement for each visit. This is a multi-center trial initiated by Cincinnati Children's; we hope to enroll at least 3 groups each year at Boston Children's.
