Our mission

The TransLab mission is to help physicians treat their patients by bridging science and medicine. The accomplish this objective, the TransLab supports the bench-to-bedside and bedside-to-bench translational and clinical research. The TransLab operates in two major areas:

  • laboratory assays for investigator-initiated clinical and translational trials
  • process and product development (PPD) of assays and biological reagents to support clinical trials

The TransLab provides highly specialized services requiring sophisticated technical skills and equipment not offered by any other core. Some examples include complex mammalian cell culture (EBV transformation, skin biopsy-derived fibroblasts for genetic testing, bone marrow stromal cell culture, stem cell viral transduction, T cell activation and expansion etc), large scale cell selection using the Miltenyi CliniMACS, immunoassays (ELISA, Luminex, flow cytometry), molecular assays (qPCR, RT-qPCR, ddPCR etc). The strength of the TransLab is the ability to implement new assays to fit the needs of the clinical investigators so our list of services constantly evolves.

The TransLab is dedicated to supporting clinical research and offers a comprehensive battery of services, leveraging multiple technologies and methods, and can assist with routine processes as well as complex laboratory-developed test. The TransLab places a special emphasis on assay development for use in clinical trials.
